It was a warm sunny afternoon, the window was rolled all the way down, the music was playing softly on the stereo.  I was on my way to a friends, not looking for anything in particular, when I suddenly had to pull over.  I was probably muttering to myself.... where is my camera? Fumbling in my bag, jumping out of the car and going across the street. I was so nervous.  "Someone is going to wonder what I'm doing"

I had to get a photo of this gorgeous bloom.  I'd never seen anything like it.  The silver tones in the tulip stopped me in my tracks.

Tulips were the first flower that I tried to grow myself.  They seemed the easiest and boy they have not disappointed. At one point I planted 250 bulbs in my small front garden, grouping the bulbs by variety so they would come up in a cluster.  What a treat each spring to enjoy their abundant blooms.  

Tulips were once the most expensive flower in the world.  The Dutch East India company brought them from the orient.  Back in Holland people went crazy for them, especially the exotic colours and shapes.
