- I often feel my breath catch in my throat
when I'm in the presence of beauty. -
I'm sure this comes from my childhood. I grew up in Penticton, BC on a small acreage. Each spring the 40 foot long hedge of Lilac's would burst into bloom and perfume the entire neighbourhood. Or while riding my bike through the rural streets lined with orchards, the waft of crisp apples, or peaches, ready to pick, would take my breath away.
In my art, I'm passionate about re-creating that same catch in my throat. That breath of wonder and amazement.
I focus on painting a realistic representation of my subject, which is kind of a contradiction because I'm actually creating an illusion of three dimensions on a two dimensional plane.
I began my art training at the Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary Alberta and finished my BA in Visual Art at The University of British Columbia.
Recently, I transitioned to painting full time and hosted my first solo Exhibition in October 2019. I have now launched two successful series in 2020, with many new paintings planned in the coming months.
