Making your own natural wood frame for a 3/4" stretched canvas is not difficult, it just takes a few tools and a bit of careful planning. 

The tools that you will need are:
  • Hemlock outside corner moulding long enough to surround your piece and allow for a little bit of waste from cutting. (1-1/8" x 1-1/8" approx $5.85/foot)
  • Pencil for marking the lengths
  • Tape measure
  • 1/4" Staples
  • Staple gun
  • Painters tape
  • Wood glue
  • A framer's square
  • Tung Oil for finishing
  • Mitre saw or Mitre box and hand saw for cutting.
  • Small screws (#4  5/8" screws)
  • Counter sink bit for creating a lovely cup shape for the screw to seat into.
