Realistic Floral Painting
Possible In-Person Workshop
Capturing the beauty of flowers in oil paint is an amazing experience. The richness of the colour and depth of shape that can be created is truly awe inspiring.
In this course I will walk you through everything you need to know to develop an idea worth painting, and then the processes you will need to actually paint that image.
If you are unfamiliar with colour mixing I suggest you take my Colour Mixing with Confidence Course first.

What will you specifically learn in this course:
- How to take and choose great source photos,
- Composing your image for added affect,
- Choosing canvas sizes and shapes appropriate for your composed image,
- Preparing your surface and transferring your image to that surface,
- Techniques for signing the front of your canvas,
- My method of capturing the realism of the bloom,
- How and when to call a painting done,
- Pricing, varnish, framing, etc.
Who is this class for:
- artists who feel intimidated by the complexity of flowers, but would like to paint them.
- artists who have dabbled in painting flowers but are not quite satisfied with the effect they are able to achieve
Who is this not for:
- The beginning artist with no experience painting
What you will need:
I will have a full supply list available for you, and we are fortunate to have an art supply store right next to the classroom space, if there is anything you need to pick up.
What is the format of the course?
- This course will be taught, in a classroom space, on Granville Island.
- There are video tutorials that I will make available for you to watch at your leisure, to supplement the classroom teaching.
- We will be together from 10 - 4 with regular breaks and time to grab lunch in the market close by.
Accommodations: There are many hotels in the area to choose from, the closest being across from the classroom space. Details to come later. ~$150/night based on double occupancy.
Cost: $997 plus GST. (Payment plan option available)
