Feeling helpless to change the hardships in other peoples lives is so painful. If you are like me, there is a lot that cannot be easily solved, yet the desire is there to make a difference.
I'm doing what I can. Just like the painting that I donated to Lahaina Hawaii, to assist in the rebuilding of their vibrant arts and cultural community, I'm donating a painting to raise funds for the installation of a water well in Malawi Africa.
I cannot do this on my own.
I'm currently painting a 36 x 36" oil painting depicting a Jacaronda Tree from the Malawi area. I will have the painting for sale with 100% of the proceeds going to the project.
In addition, I will have prints and merchandise to go along with it. 100% of those proceeds, after printing costs, will go directly to the project.
Prints start at $20.
If you are looking for a special gift for a loved one, purchasing something from this collection means that your purchase also helps another family to have access to life giving water.
Currently there are (5) communities in dire need of clean water. With the partnership with a local family (from Maple ridge) who have successful installed many wells = they have all the resources on the ground and the support of the local chiefs, this is a project that will directly make a different in the lives of others.
Why not fund something closer to home? This is a valid question. In North America we have clean drinking water, yes we have many other issues, but water is something we can rely on. That is not the case in Africa. Which has me thinking about the first nations communities who do not have drinking water in Canada.... okay, maybe that's my next project.
Is the money really going to benefit the community? This is a question that comes up when you hear stories about international aid organization using donations to fund other things than what the money was intended for. It makes you skeptical about where the money actually goes. In this case, it goes to a wonderful couple whom I've know for years. I remember Nadine saying she was reluctant to spend money on her engagement ring because it would mean that a well would have to wait. Self-less, loving people who are trustworthy to use the money for the intended purpose.

I'm crying as I post these because I realize that you, and I can make this happen. We can bring water to a community that doesn't currently have a source for clean drinking water.
Please tell me that you'd like to be a part of this too. To give your love and resources to support another whole community. Here's the thing, we would not be helping a single person, but a whole village. That is very cool to think about.
The other aspect of this is that Chris regularly returns to Africa to make sure the wells that they have already installed are functioning as they should. I love that it is more than a quick install and then never thought of again. It's an ongoing project to maintain and ensure the wells continued to function as they are intended.
Here's how the prices break down.
4 x 4" $22
12 x 12" $63
16 x 16" $125
24 x 24" $195
30 x 30" $245
Large Market Tote Bag. $75
Original painting 36 x36" $4750
