Sometimes it can be difficult to understand the colour that you are seeing in your source photo. If you want to try out selecting colours for a particular painting, here is a resource that can be really helpful. It's a website that allows you to upload your own image and use the pointing tool to select a section and subsequent colour of that section. (They do not keep your image when you upload it, it's simply for you use while you are on the site.)
