That Critical Structure.
Why is composition so critical? Simply, it's the framework that you build your painting on. That framework is what provides the structure for a really interesting painting. Ultimately you want your viewer to pause, and really appreciate the little moments that you have planned for them. But if we don't consider what those moments are, or how we place them in the picture plain we miss an opportunity.
Yes, we may be masterful with our skills, but that will always fall short if we haven't intentionally planned what we want the viewer to experience.
